FAQ's

LOW BATTERY ALERT
What do I do if I get a low battery alert? Change the batteries as soon as possible. Remove the battery cover on the back of the data logger and replace 2 x AAA batteries, then place the data logger back in the appliance. NOTE: When you replace the batteries in a cold data logger it takes a little while for the batteries to come down in temperature, which may cause a short spike in temperature for this logger. It is advised to log a CORRECTIVE ACTION 'Batteries changed' to account for any temperature fluctuations.
CALIBRATION
Can Smart Probe Data Loggers be calibrated? Yes, we have an in-house calibration service. It is recommended that you have your data loggers calibrated every 12 months to satisfy industry guidelines. Simply phone or email to book your calibration.
CORRECTIVE ACTION LOGS
Are Corrective Action Logs important? Absolutely, it shows due diligence to your auditor It is very important to keep records for the following reasons - Reason why your temperatures dropped or spiked - What action was taken - Accurate Date & Time records for your auditor - When you log a corrective action, an automated email is sent to your team members (all emails set up under high/low alarms) so everyone knows what action has been taken.
VARIANCE IN DATA LOGGER READINGS
How is it possible to have two devices monitoring the same environment giving different readings? And for both of them to be right? Smart Probe Logger has a digital sensor that is accurate to 0.5°C, which is fairly standard across brands. But it does mean that, if the Smart Probe Logger gives you a temperature of 3.0°, the actual temperature could be anywhere from 2.5° to 3.5°.
If you had two devices with this level of accuracy and placed them in an environment of exactly three degrees, one could tell you it was 2.5° and the other could say it was 3.5°.And both would be right (within the limits of their accuracy). Cool rooms, fridges, and freezers all work pretty much the same way. A thermostat measures the temperature.- When the temperature rises to a certain level, the motor switches on and cold air starts blowing to lower the temperature.- When the temperature reaches a certain point, the compressor turns off- The temperature gradually rises until it reaches the high point and the cycle repeats If you are using a temperature logger, you can see this cycle illustrated on your temperature graphs. The most important thing to understand is that temperatures fluctuate. Rather than worrying about a stray reading here and there, look for a consistent average temperature.
If that average is too high or too low, adjust your fridge. If the peaks and troughs are outside your limits, adjust the timing of your thermostats.
